Advent: A Season of Expectations : Expecting in the Hard Yes
This week Pastor Ashlee Adkins continues our sermon series “Advent: A Season of Expectations”. The beginning of Mary’s Magnificat is one of my favorite portions of Scripture. A call to her true purpose. An ode to her Creator. A reminder of whom she was to magnify. I know with this season, it’s so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of ‘all the things.’ But just as Mary had to give God a hard yes to being the mother of the Messiah, we too are called to saying yes to encapsulating God in all we say and do, especially in this season; the season we long and expect the coming King of Kings. Let me impress upon you to say yes to God in a way you aren’t quite sure you can fulfill, even if you are overwhelmed and exhausted with an empty tank. Why in the world would I impress you to do this? Of all seasons? Because that’s exactly what Mary did. And because she did, her willingness provided us with the most wonderful gift of all – Jesus Christ.
