About St John

St John United Methodist Church is a family-friendly, Bible believing congregation located in Oldham County, Kentucky in Prospect, just east of Louisville.

We think you’ll find the music inspiring and uplifting – no matter what style of worship you like best.  We have a traditional service at 8:30am,  The Bridge, our contemporary service, at 9:45am, and a blended service at 11:00am, with children’s programming at all services. Our sermons are practical, and offer biblical solutions to real life issues.

We have lots of programs open to our local community, including St John Preschool, Afterschool and Summer Care, Upwards Basketball  & Cheerleading, Kids Kloset, Vacation Bible School, Music Camp, our Fine Arts Academy, and numerous Special Events like our annual Trunk or Treat.

St John offers numerous adult small groups on Sunday mornings at 9:45.  Throughout the week we also offer women’s, men’s, coed, and couples studies as well as MOPS® (Mothers of Preschoolers).  In addition, we have Grace Marriage®, Celebrate Recovery®, and GriefShare® for those dealing with those specific life issues.

In September ’99, Harold Smith, a long-time layleader, wrote a history of St John. In it, he said

“We stand on a firm foundation and look upward and outward to the boundless opportunities to serve our Lord and Savior.  We have been blessed by offering multifaceted programs of study, worship, fellowship, and service to our members, and to our community. ”

These words remain true today as we strive to live out our mission statement and our core values.
